Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research position in the research group “Comparative Gestural Signalling“, led by Dr. Simone Pika at the Max Planck Institute for Ornithology, Seewiesen, Germany (http://www.orn.mpg.de).
The lab conducts comparative research on the development and complexity of communicative signalling with a special focus on gestures. This position will focus on the gestural development and complexity of human children in different cultures (German culture, Hadza culture [in cooperation with C. Power, University of East London, UK], Ugandan culture). For additional information on gestural research and recent publications, please visit http://www.primate-gesture-center.eu.
Applicants must hold a PhD in Anthropology, Biology, Psychology, or a related discipline or must show evidence that the PhD will be completed before the start of the position. Experience with developmental research, or communication studies are also a requirement for the position, with field experience being an additional plus.
